Once again we join our friends at the popular Rosemundy Hotel, in the picturesque coastal Cornish village of St Agnes, with its thriving, friendly community, fascinating museum, beautiful beaches & breathtaking scenery. This fabulous holiday boasts four excursions taking in two Great Gardens of Cornwall (award-winning Trebah and the fascinating Eden Project – admissions included), the beautiful Lizard Peninsular and the picturesque fishing villages of Port Isaac, Boscastle, St Ives & Mevagissey. In addition, we spend time at leisure in St Agnes and visit the Wilton Village, the historic city of Wells and Jamaica Inn en-route.

Our hotel is the welcoming, family run 3* Rosemundy House, an elegant Queen Anne residence dating back to the 1780’s, beautifully situated amongst secluded gardens and woodlands, where we are assured of a warm welcome and excellent cuisine. The Rosemundy is ideally situated to explore the county of Cornwall and is also a comfortable home-from-home when at leisure. All well appointed en-suite bedrooms are on either the ground or first floor; for relaxation, there are comfortable lounges; and for the more energetic, croquet, putting and a heated outdoor swimming pool. Meals are waitress served in the attractive restaurant, known as the Tom Noggi Room. There is entertainment on some evenings.

Day 1: We depart from our local boarding points and head for the Southwest, stopping en-route for lunch at the Wilton Shopping Village and afternoon refreshments at Jamaica Inn, immortalised in Daphne du Mauriers book of the same name. On arrival in St Agnes, porters take care of our luggage while we settle into our rooms.

Day 2: Today we depart for the Lizard Peninsula, the most southerly point of the British Mainland, an area of outstanding natural beauty, and the location for Marconi’s first radio signal to Canada, in 1901. The cliffs at Lizard Point are notable for their sinister-sounding "serpentine rock", which is a dark green colour, veined in red and white; several local craft and gift shops sell ornaments fashioned from this unusual stone. We return to St Agnes to spend the remainder of the day at leisure, either relaxing in our hotel or exploring the pretty coastal village; look out for Stippy Stappy, the row of pretty sea captains cottages, which tumble down the hillside; and also the remains of the stone built engine houses, a reminder of the area’s mining past; perhaps take a walk down to the beautiful Trevaunance Cove.

Day 3: Today’s excursion takes us to the famous Eden Project, a dramatic global garden, housed in tropical biomes, dubbed the Eighth Wonder of the World. Experience the sights, smells and scale of the rainforests in the Rainforest Biome - the world's largest greenhouse - and discover the tropical plants that are used to produce everyday products. Travel to South Africa and California, as you amble amongst the orange and lemon trees, olive groves and gnarled vines of the Mediterranean Biome, and in the 30-acre Outdoor Garden see hemp, sunflowers and other plants that could change your future (admission included).  This afternoon, we head for the coast to visit pretty Mevagissey, a traditional Cornish fishing port with quaint shops and colourful cottages lining the busy harbour.

Day 4: After breakfast today, we travel via the resort of Perranporth, with its golden sands, former home of Poldark author, Winston Graham, and along the North Cornwall coast to the pretty fishing village of Port Isaac, a popular film and TV location, most recently, transformed into fictional Port Wenn for the successful comedy drama Doc Martin, staring Martin Clunes. Continuing on, we reach Boscastle, a village restored to its former glory, following a freak storm in 2004. We have time to take lunch, while admiring the stunning scenery and attractive harbour, before returning to St Agnes. Time permitting, we’ll also visit historic Tintagel, a village linked to the legend of King Arthur, where the remains of Tintagel Castle, said to be King Arthur’s birthplace, cling precariously to the edge of the cliff face.

Day 5: For our final excursion, we visit the charming resort and fishing village of St Ives, with its splendid beaches, fine views and mild climate. The beauty of St Ives has always attracted artists, and in recent times it has become an important centre of the arts, with museums and galleries adding to its appeal. We then take a scenic return route, via Mounts Bay, and past the magical St Michaels Mount, to the award-winning Trebah Garden, a beautiful 26 acre sub-tropical garden which sweeps down to a secluded beach on the Helford Estuary. Famous for its impressive “Hydrangea Valley,” comprising two acres of blue, pink and white blooms planted in the 50’s, Trebah is well worth a visit (admission included).

Day 6: After breakfast this morning, we commence our return journey, stopping en-route in historic Wells, the smallest city in England, with its beautiful cathedral and moated Bishops Palace. We arrive back in Essex early evening.

Includes: 5 nights half-board in en-suite bedrooms, porterage, ground floor rooms, walk-in showers, disabled rooms, entertainment, 4 excursions and visits on outward & return journeys. Note: no lift. Admission to Eden Project and Trebah Garden.
