Boon’s Calibre Travel 2026

Easter Weekend…Peaks, Petals & Market Towns

Friday 3rd April 2026 for 4 days, half-board

We are pleased to present our Easter tour for 2026…this year’s break has plenty of interest for everyone, and we hope you will join us, once again, for a memorable weekend. Our two included excursions take us to the ever popular floral town of Harrogate, the excellent RHS Harlow Carr Garden, the fascinating Royal Armouries Museum and the fabulous Harewood Estate. We have also included a circular tour of pretty Nidderdale, with a stop at idyllic Pately Bridge, for those who don’t wish to visit Harlow Carr. On our outward and return journeys we visit the historic, stone market town of Stamford, the Elsecar Heritage Centre, the beautiful Peak District National Park and the pretty market town of Bakewell.

Our hotel is the welcoming Best Western (PLUS) Milford, which is ideally located for our 2026 Easter tour. This 3* standard venue boasts a relaxed atmosphere, excellent service and the award-wining Watermill Restaurant, where fresh, locally sourced ingredients are used whenever possible. The hotel’s en-suite bedrooms are well-appointed and the well-stocked bar is prefect for after dinner drinks.  Bedrooms are arranged over two floors, ground and first, however, there is no lift, therefore, please request a ground floor bedroom if required.

Day 1: On leaving our local boarding points, we head northward, our journey taking us via the Great North Road to historic Stamford, a bustling prosperous town, once described as “the finest sight on the road between Edinburgh and London” and declared by the Sunday Times as “Britain’s top place to live”. Stamford boasts over 600 listed buildings and the finest collection of medieval churches – five in all – of any small town in England. One of the town’s most famous landmarks is the famous George Hotel, a 16th century coaching inn, with its unique ‘gallows’ sign spanning the entire road. After lunch, and a browse around the bustling street market, we continue on to our hotel, arriving in good time for dinner.

Day 2: Following breakfast today, we make our way to the award-winning floral spa town of Harrogate, with its glorious gardens, graceful architecture, excellent shopping opportunities and the famous Betty’s Cafe Tea Rooms. This afternoon, we visit nearby RHS Harlow Carr, one of Yorkshire’s most relaxing and innovative gardens and a showcase of horticultural excellence all year round. Ample time to wander through the stunning borders, beautiful Kitchen Garden, magical Scented Garden, and lush Streamside Garden, and to visit the extensive RHS Harlow Carr Plant Centre and Shop, before we return to our hotel for dinner. (Entrance extra, RHS Members plus 1 guest FREE). As an alternative, for those who, don’t wish to visit Harlow Carr Gardens, we will take a circular coach tour into the heart of pretty Nidderdale where we visit idyllic Pately Bridge, with its numerous quaint local shops and tea rooms, including England’s Oldest Sweet Shop, full to the brim with traditional sweets from our childhood.

Day 3:  We depart after breakfast for the city of Leeds, where we visit a popular attraction with our clients, the Royal Armouries Museum (FREE entry), located in the revitalised dockside area. Home of the UK’s National collection of arms and armour, the museum boasts extensive displays showing how arms and armour have shaped society, art, and culture throughout history, and is well worth a visit. We spend the remainder of the day at fabulous Harewood, one of the Treasure Houses of England, set in the heart of rural Yorkshire. This wonderful estate, boasts rolling ‘Capability’ Brown landscapes, an impressive art collection, renaissance masterpieces, exquisite Thomas Chippendale furniture and fabulous Robert Adam interiors. In addition, there are award-winning gardens and a renowned lakeside Bird Garden to enjoy before we return to our hotel.

Day 4: We depart after breakfast and commence our journey home. Our first stop is at the Elsecar Heritage Centre (FREE entry). Set within the attractive conservation village of Elsecar, the centre, formally ironworks and colliery workshops, is home to an interesting variety of individual craft and antique shops, artist studios and exhibitions, including one which details Elsecar’s past. Our journey continues via the beautiful Peak District National Park, where we make a lunchtime visit to Bakewell, home of the famous Bakewell Pudding. Idyllically situated on the banks of the river Wye, with its mellow stone buildings, a medieval five-arched stone bridge and quaint courtyards, Bakewell boasts a Monday market and a wealth of specialist shops and a host of cafés, restaurants, pubs and tea rooms. On leaving Bakewell we complete our journey to Essex.
