Treat yourself to a few days away from it all on our lovely Autumn Tints break… As summer’s greenery turns into the astonishing array of golds, yellows & oranges of autumn, our lovely 4-day tour takes us to two of Britain’s most popular National Parks - the glorious Lake District and the pretty Peak District, the tranquil National Memorial Arboretum, Pendle Witch Country and the popular Yorkshire town of Skipton. In addition, we have included an evening coach tour through the “not to be missed” Blackpool Illuminations.
Our hotel is the popular 3 star standard Legacy Preston International, an impressive modern building, in the Lancashire town of Preston, ideally located or our tour. Day 1: On leaving our local boarding points, we make our way north, stopping en-route at the National Memorial Arboretum, an evolving, maturing woodland landscape featuring 30,000 trees and a vast collection of memorials. A place of tranquillity and reflection, the 150-acre site is a living, growing tribute to those who have served and continue to serve our country. There is a restaurant & shop in the visitor centre and, for those less able; a land train is available to explore the site. After lunch, we continue on to our hotel, arriving in good time for dinner.
Day 2: This morning, we head northward into the Lake District National Park, where we visit the historic village of Cartmel, winner of numerous awards for its floral displays and home of the Sticky Toffee Pudding. Continuing on, via Newby Bridge, we travel along the eastern shore of Lake Windermere, to the resort of Bowness-on-Windermere, Cumbria’s most popular destination and home to many attractions, speciality shops and cafes. We return to our hotel, where an early dinner will be served. Take time to relax for the evening or join our included evening coach tour of the spectacular Blackpool Illuminations. We enjoy a six-mile drive through the breathtaking annual spectacle, which has been one of the resort’s most popular attractions since 1879. It’s said that everyone should see the illuminations at least once in their lifetime, so join us for the “greatest free light show on earth”.
Day 3: After breakfast today, we head eastward into the county of Yorkshire, our scenic journey taking us through Pendle Witch Country, to the historic castle town of Skipton “Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales”, with its award-winning High Street, rich with independent shops and cafes. This afternoon, we visit the interesting Pendle Heritage Centre, where we have included entry to the fascinating museum and pretty gardens, and there will be time to take refreshment in the tea rooms before we return to our hotel for dinner.
Day 4: On leaving our hotel we make our way homeward, our journey taking us via the beautiful scenery of the Peak District National Park, to the attractive market town of Bakewell, beautifully situated on the River Wye and world renowned for its Bakewell Pudding. On leaving Bakewell, we complete our journey home, with suitable comfort stops en-route.
Includes: 3 nights half-board in en-suite bedrooms, porterage, lift, disabled bedrooms, two excursions & evening tour of Blackpool illuminations, visits on outward & return journeys. Admission to Pendle Heritage Centre.
