Boon’s Calibre Travel 2025 Treasures of Norfolk…Coast & Country Departs Thursday 19th June 2025 for 3 days, half-board
By popular demand we return to the splendid 4* Knights Hill Hotel. Loved by our clients, the welcoming Knights Hill has been our “Thursford” overnight hotel for many years and several of you have asked to visit during the summer months. We are pleased to have secured this two night stay for 2025, which gives us three days to visit some of Norfolk’s great attractions. Our tour takes us to the late Queen’s much loved Sandringham Estate, the seaside towns of Cromer, Wells-next-to-sea and Sheringham “jewel of the north Norfolk Coast”, and the famous Norfolk Lavender Farm. In addition, we take a nostalgic ride on the North Norfolk Railway, known locally as the “Poppy Line.
The 4* Knights Hill Hotel and Spa, a member of the Best Western Signature Collection, is the wonderful hotel that we’ve used for our Thursford mini-breaks for many years. Sitting in 11 acres of grounds and gardens, this former hunting lodge boasts spacious accommodation, with smartly decorated bedrooms and elegant public areas. Bedrooms are spread across two floors, ground and first, all have en-suite facilities. For relaxation, there is an indoor swimming pool.
Day 1: On leaving our local boarding points, we make our way to Norfolk, where we visit the Sandringham Estate (admission included), the Queen’s much loved country retreat. The magnificent house, built in 1870, has been passed down through generations of British Monarchs and is surrounded by 60 acres of beautiful gardens. Also in the grounds is the medieval Sandringham Church, where the Royal family worship, and a museum, which houses many items of interest, including the Royal vintage motor vehicles – its prize exhibits. On leaving Sandringham we complete our journey to the Knights Hill Hotel, where porters take care of our luggage, while we settle into our rooms.
Day 2: Today, we make our way to nearby Norfolk Lavender, England’s Premier Lavender farm (free entry), where there will be time for coffee, before we make our way along the coast road to one of the most attractive towns on the north Norfolk coast, Wells-next-to-Sea. A beautiful, historic seaside resort, Wells has a long sweeping beach, a sheltered colourful harbour and a wealth of charming shops, pubs and restaurants. We return to our hotel for time at leisure before dinner
Day 3: We leave our hotel and make our way to Holt, where we join the the North Norfolk Railway (fare included), known locally as 'The Poppy Line', for a 5 mile journey though the countryside to the traditional market town of Sheringham, “jewel of the north Norfolk coast”. Time to explore the town, and to wander around the open-air market stalls, before we head for Cromer, a seaside resort made fashionable by the Victorians and then the Edwardians, who built a string of grand hotels on the seafront and a magnificent pier. The town is famous for the fresh brown Cromer crab which is caught locally and sold in the many eating establishments. On leaving Cromer, we return to Essex, arriving early evening.
Includes: 2 nights half-board in en-suite bedrooms, porterage, ground floor bedrooms (no lift), adapted bedroom, leisure facilities, two excursions, visits on outward & return journeys. Train fare (single journey), entry to Sandringham.
