What a fabulous start to the new year…a “West Country Cosy Break” at one of client’s favourite hotels, Torquay’s elegant 3* Headland, with its panoramic views and friendly attentive staff. Our tour will include 3 nights with bed, breakfast and evening meal, two coach excursions and the following extras provided by the hotel…Welcome Reception; Bucks Fizz; Bingo; Quiz; Evening Entertainment. During our tour we visit the historic city of Salisbury, the magnificent Buckfast Abbey & gardens, and the regency seaside resort of Sidmouth, we also have some free time in our resort of Torquay. In addition, we have the chance to pick up some January Sale bargains at Somerset’s famous Clark’s Retail Outlet Village.
Our hotel, is the elegant 3* Headland, superbly situated in the resort of Torquay, in the centre of the “English Riviera”. Set in two acres of grounds, with panoramic views across stunning Tor Bay, the hotel, formally a grand private residence for the Russian Royal family, boasts stylish public areas, well-appointed en-suite bedrooms and a comprehensive leisure centre. Day 1: We depart from our local boarding points and head for the Southwest, stopping en-route for refreshments and lunch. Our lunchtime visit is to the wonderful city of Salisbury, situated on the River Avon, with its splendid early English cathedral, crowned by the tallest spire in Britain. On arrival at the Headland Hotel, porters take care of our luggage, while we enjoy a warming cup of tea or coffee with biscuits. After settling into our rooms, we join staff and guests in the Gallery Lounge for pre-dinner Bucks Fizz. Our day is rounded off with a sumptuous evening meal, served in the Romanoff Restaurant.
Day 2: After today’s full English breakfast, we depart for Buckfastleigh, and the peace and serenity of Buckfast Abbey, situated in a wooded valley in the edge of the Dartmoor National Park. Time to enjoy the magnificent Abbey Church, herb gardens, shops and café, before returning to Torquay for time at leisure to explore the town or relax in our lovely hotel. Late afternoon, we meet again for hot drinks and a round of Bingo in the lounge. Our tasty evening meal, is again served in the Romanoff Restaurant.
Day 3: After breakfast today, we head eastward along the coast road, via Teignmouth and Dawlish, to Regency Sidmouth, a quiet, unspoilt seaside resort, full of character, boasting beautiful parks, beaches, small shops and a wealth of interesting architecture, all nestling beneath majestic red cliffs in the glorious Sid Valley. This afternoon, we return to our hotel for hot drinks and a brain teasing Quiz in the lounge. Our last evening meal, again served in the Romanoff Restaurant, is followed by entertainment, taking us up to bedtime.
Day 4: After breakfast this morning, we commence our journey home. Today’s visit is to Somerset’s long established, and always popular, Clark’s Shopping Village. Ample time to search for a bargain in the January Sales, before we continue our journey to Essex.
Includes: 3 nights half-board (dinner, bed & breakfast) in en-suite bedrooms, lift, ground floor rooms, adapted rooms, walk-in showers, leisure centre. Porterage. 2 excursions. Extras provided by the hotel, as described. Note: Hotel guests may take advantage of the complementary daily taxi service from the Headland to/from Torquay harbour (please note: this has to be pre-booked with reception by 9.30am on the day).
