A Devonshire “Cosy Break” with Snowdrops…

includes evening entertainment & afternoon treats

Departs Friday 16th February 2024 for 4 days, half-board

A charming four-day break, taking in some of South Devon’s many treasures, based in beautiful Torquay, one of the West Country’s principal resorts, with its magnificent bay, elegant Victorian villas, iconic palm trees, busy harbour, extensive shopping areas and amazing sea views. Our tour includes two excursions and, in addition, our lovely hotel has arranged a “Cosy Break” with evening entertainment and afternoon treats.

Our hotel is the elegant AA 3* Headland, superbly situated in the resort of Torquay, in the centre of the “English Riviera”. Set in two acres of grounds, with panoramic views across stunning Tor Bay, the hotel, formally a grand private residence for the Russian Royal family, boasts stylish public areas, well-appointed en-suite bedrooms and a comprehensive leisure centre. There is a lift, accessible bedrooms, ground floor rooms and some rooms have a walk-in shower.

Headland Hotel & Spa, Torquay, Devon, TQ1 2EF Tel: 01803-295 666

Day 1: We depart from our local boarding points and head for the Southwest, stopping en-route for refreshments and lunch. On arrival at the Headland Hotel we are welcomed with hot drinks and biscuits. After settling into our rooms, we meet again for a sherry reception, which is s followed by dinner in the restaurant.

Day 2: Today’s excursion takes us to Buckfastleigh, and the peace and serenity of Buckfast Abbey, situated in a wooded valley in the edge of the Dartmoor National Park. Time to enjoy the magnificent Abbey Church, herb gardens, shops and café, before visiting historic Dartmouth, situated on the beautiful Dart estuary. An attractive town, with ancient narrow streets, famous for its seafaring history, Dartmouth is often used as a film set.

On our return to our hotel, there will be afternoon refreshments and bingo to keep us amused. Dinner in the restaurant is followed by entertainment in the lounge.

Day 3: Following breakfast, we make our way to The Garden House, a garden viewed as one of the finest in Britain. During January and February, the ten acres of beautiful grounds, surrounding the elegant 19th century house, former home of the Vicars of Buckland Monachorum, are awash with delicate white snowdrops, the legacy of a previous head gardener. Time to admire the carpet of blooms, and to visit the plant sales and café, before we return to our hotel through the heart of the rugged Dartmoor National Park.

On our return to our hotel, we enjoy a quiz and afternoon refreshments, before dinner in the restaurant. Entertainment rounds off the evening

Day 4: On leaving our hotel, we make our way homeward, stopping en-route for refreshments and lunch. We arrive home early evening
