Exploring the North Norfolk Coast – Wednesday 21st August 2024 Our day commences with a coffee stop at Cherry Lane Garden Centre, before continuing on to the cliff-top resort of Cromer, famous for its crabs, with small independent shops & cafes, fine sandy beaches and a traditional pier; We drop off here, before taking the remainder of the party to Sheringham, “jewel of the north Norfolk coast”, an attractive seaside town, home of the North Norfolk Heritage Railway, with its interesting shops & tea rooms, long promenade and open-air market. Ample time to explore, before we return home, picking up in Cromer en-route. Adult/S.C: £43 (Not B & S)
Elegant Richmond & the Poppy Factory – Friday 30th August 2024 Today we visit London’s Poppy Factory, where veterans with health conditions produce Remembrance poppies and wreaths in order to support their journey to employment. At the new visitor centre, our expert hosts explain how veterans create Remembrance products for The Royal British Legion and the Royal Family and we shall see how Royal and regimental wreaths are made by hand. There will be time to explore the visitor centre at our leisure and the opportunity to make a poppy. We enjoy a delicious Factory Tea Break served by the veteran baristas, with fresh cakes made by the in-house baker and have time to purchase souvenirs from the gift shop. We will make a morning coffee stop at the Polhill Garden Centre and take time for lunch in elegant Richmond-upon-Thames, a favourite retreat of Royalty, the rich and the famous (includes Poppy Factory admission and refreshments). Idyllic Newbury & Highclere Castle (Downton Abbey) including Egyptian Exhibition Wednesday 4th September 2024 Highclere Castle & Gardens is where the popular period drama Downton Abbey was filmed. Visit the castle to learn about real life at Highclere and at the same time see the Drawing Room in which Maggie Smith delivered many a withering remark to some unfortunate relation! In addition, explore the beautiful gardens and discover all about the Tomb of the Egyptian Boy Pharaoh, Tutankhamun, in the fascinating Egyptian Exhibition. Prior to our visit to Highclere, we will make a lunch stop in the idyllic market town of Newbury, in the heart of rural Berkshire (includes admission to Highclere Castle & Gardens, and Egyptian Exhibition). Steam, Cream & Teapots – Thursday 19th September 2024 Today’s excursion takes us first of all to the fascinating Teapot Island tea rooms and museum, in its riverside setting, where over 6000 novelty teapots are on show. Continuing on, we arrive at the delightful country town of Tenterden, which boasts an attractive tree-lined High Street, and a wealth of specialist shops, tearooms, pubs and restaurants. After lunch, we board the Kent & East Sussex Steam Railway for a nostalgic train ride to Bodiam, with its fairytale moated castle, and back again. During the journey a delicious cream tea will be served (includes train fare, cream tea & entrance to teapot museum). Adult/S.C: £79
