Easter Weekend on the South Coast

with a day on the idyllic Isle of Wight

Friday 29th March 2024 for 4 days, half Board

Join friends old and new for our annual Easter break. This year, our 4-day tour takes us to the South coast of England, where we spend 3 nights at the 4* Langstone Quays Resort Hotel on Hayling Island. Our tour includes the maritime city of Portsmouth, genteel Southsea, the idyllic Isle of Wight, the South Downs National Park, historic Chichester & Steyning and a visit to Royal Windsor on the way home.

Our hotel is the popular 4* Langstone Quays Resort, with its stunning waterside setting, in the Chichester Harbour Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.  All en-suite bedrooms are tastefully furnished and fully equipped, with many located on the ground floor. The Waterside Restaurant, with its harbour views, serves a varied menu, and the bar area is a perfect place to relax after dinner. The comprehensive leisure centre boasts an indoor swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room.Note: There is no lift.

Day 1: We depart from our local boarding points and make our way to the south coast, where we spend the afternoon exploring the maritime city of Portsmouth, with its many attractions, including the fabulous Spinnaker Tower, with its harbour views, and the fascinating Historic Dockyard, as well as extensive shopping areas. Alternatively, there will be the option to relax in genteel Southsea, Portsmouth’s neighbouring traditional seaside resort, with its long beach, level promenade, pier, castle, various attractions, such as the D-Day Museum, and smaller independent shops. On leaving Portsmouth/Southsea we travel the sort distance to our Hayling Island hotel, where we have time to freshen up before dinner.

Day 2: After breakfast, we travel across the rolling hills of the South Downs, the UK’s newest National Park, via Storrington, to Steyning, one of the prettiest Sussex towns, with its fine High Street, lined with historic buildings and an array of independent retailers. We return along the coast road to the fascinating city of Chichester, which lies between two areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the South Downs and Chichester Harbour, with its compact centre, boasting an excellent range of shops, an elaborate market cross and a magnificent Norman cathedral.

Day 3: Todays, excursion takes us by ferry to everyone’s favourite destination, the idyllic Isle of Wight, with its lovely beaches, pretty villages and the famous Needles extending out to sea. The coach will tour the island, stopping a places of interest en-route, however, if anyone wishes to spend the day at Osborne House, seaside retreat of Queen Victoria, they can be dropped off in the morning, and collected later in the day (Admission to Osborne House is extra, English Heritage members free)

Day 4: On leaving our hotel, we commence our journey home. Our lunchtime visit is Royal Windsor, with a multitude of attractions, dominated by its magnificent castle. Ample opportunity to explore this wonderfully historic town, before we return to Essex.
