Boon’s Calibre Travel 2021 Lakes, Peaks & Blackpool Illuminations Departs Saturday 2nd October 2021 for 3 days, half-board
The highlight of this feature-packed short break for 2020 is a six-mile drive through the famous Blackpool Illuminations, a breathtaking annual spectacle since 1879. It’s said that everyone should see the illuminations at least once in their lifetime, so join us for the “greatest free light show on earth”. In addition, we visit Cumbria’s glorious Lakes, the beautiful Peak District and the picturesque, riverside town of Newark.
Our hotel is the popular Best Western Signature Collection 3* Leyland, a modern, luxurious hotel, located just outside the Lancashire town of Leyland, and ideally situated for our tour. All bedrooms are well equipped and offer en-suite facilities; there is no lift, however, many ground floor rooms are available, including two with walk-in shower. Meals are taken in the Four Seasons Restaurant and a relaxing drink may be taken in the J28 Lounge Bar. The comprehensive leisure club boasts an indoor swimming pool.

Day 1: On leaving our local boarding points, we make our way northward, stopping en-route in the picturesque, riverside town of Newark-on-Trent, with its imposing 12th century, riverside castle and attractive, Georgian market square, one of the finest in England.
Day 2: This morning, we head northward into the Lake District National Park, where we visit the historic village of Cartmel, winner of numerous awards for its floral displays and home of the Sticky Toffee Pudding. Continuing on, via Newby Bridge, we travel along the eastern shore of Lake Windermere, to the resort of Bowness-on-Windermere, Cumbria’s most popular destination and home to many attractions, speciality shops and cafes. We return to our hotel, where an early dinner will be served prior to this evening’s coach tour of the spectacular Blackpool Illuminations.
Day 3: On leaving our hotel we make our way homeward, our journey taking us via the beautiful scenery of the Peak District National Park, to the attractive market town of Bakewell, beautifully situated on the River Wye and world renowned for its Bakewell Pudding. On leaving Bakewell, we complete our journey home, with suitable comfort stops en-route.
