This festive break gives us shopping opportunities galore, with the opportunity to visit both the historic city of Lincoln and the magnificent city of York, with its wonderful St Nicholas Christmas Fair. We also take a leisurely homeward drive through the beautiful Peak District National Park.
On our outward journey we spend time in the historic city of Lincoln, with its magnificent cathedral, ancient castle and medieval Bishops Palace. After lunch, we continue on to our hotel.
Our second day is spent in the charming medieval city of York, where the historic streets have been transformed for the ultimate Christmas extravaganza. Alongside the usual high street names, there are unique specialist shops, and, in addition, the magical market stalls of St Nicholas Fair are a delight.
Before we return to Essex we take a tour through pretty villages and beautiful scenery of the Peak District National Park.
