Day 1: On leaving our local boarding points, we visit the popular Polhill Garden Centre and shopping village, where morning refreshments may be taken. Continuing on, via the pretty villages of Frant, Wadhurst, Ticehurst, Flimwell, Hawkhurst and Sandhurst, we reach the attractive, hill-top town of Rye, a former trading port and smugglers haunt, with its timbered houses, specialty shops, tearooms and restaurants. After lunch, we complete our journey to Eastbourne, arriving at our hotel in good time for dinner.

Day 2:  Following breakfast, we make our way to enchanting Herstmonceux, a 15th century red-brick castle, one of the finest in Britain, sitting within a beautiful 300 acre estate. Surrounding the fairy-tail moated castle are superb themed and formal gardens; Elizabethan, Magic, Shakespeare, Sundial and Rose, to name just a few. After a lovely morning, we return to Eastbourne for time at leisure.

Day 3: After breakfast today, we visit the Regency resort of Brighton, a bustling seaside town with a stunning Royal Pavilion-the seaside palace of Prince Regent George IV, extensive shopping areas-including the chic “Lanes”, a pier, the i360 observation tower and a busy marina. We return to Eastbourne via the attractive, half-timbered, market village of Alfriston, situated in the Cuckmere Valley, famous for its Grade I listed, 14th Century, St Andrew’s church (known as “the Cathedral of the Downs”) and its thatched clergy house (NT).

Day 4: On leaving our hotel, we head for Royal Greenwich with its many shops, eating places and attractions, including the National Maritime Museum, the grand Palladian Queen’s House, the celebrated tea clipper, Cutty Sark, Greenwich Market and of course the Royal Observatory, which stands on the Greenwich Meridian. Ample time to explore, before completing our journey home.

Includes: 3 nights half-board in en-suite bedrooms, lift, porterage, 2 included excursions with visits on outward & return journeys. Evening entertainment one night. Entrance to Herstmonceux Castle & Gardens.
